Flocks of flamingos raise funds for Alzheimer’s walk

Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor is going to the birds to raise funds for the Cowley County Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Two flocks of flamingos are traveling around the greater Arkansas City community through the end of August.

Both flocks visited Medical Lodge July 1. Staff there got to choose where to send the flocks next. To have the flamingos removed costs $5. To have them removed and determine who gets them next costs $10, and for $25 you can be placed on a “no hit list” to keep the flamingos from making an appearance in your yard.

All proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association under Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s team. Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor took home the team trophy two years ago, but did not raise the most funds last year. This year, their goal is to raise $1,500 to $2,000.
