Free fitness assessments for seniors will be offered Sept. 19 at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor. The testing is free, and the public is invited.
The Senior Fit Test is given by a physical therapist and covers arm and leg strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. Each test takes 20 to 30 minutes. The therapist will then explain how the person’s results compare to others the same age. After determining individual strengths and needs, the therapist will discuss an activity plan to maintain and improve health.
Any area senior is welcome to schedule a Senior Fit Test by calling Tara Clawson at 620-506-0375. The assessments are performed by the manor’s therapy partner, RehabCare.
“We are excited to offer fitness testing for area seniors,” Clawson said. “As we head into fall and winter, it’s a good idea to know your risk factors and address any potential issues to ward off a life-changing fall.”
Fitness testing will take place at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor, 1711 N. Fourth.
The Senior Fitness Tests are a part of the manor’s Just Ask Lifelong Learning series, which offers topics of interest to older adults in our area.
