People may feel safest in their homes, but that’s where older adults can sustain most of their injuries. The most frequent cause of injury in the home is falling; one-third of people over 65 fall every year. Falls are often caused by hazards that are easy to overlook and easy to fix.

Mike Evinger, an emergency medical technician with the local reserve fire department, will talk about hazards the department sees that are not commonly known. He also will talk about the most common injuries seen as a result of a slip, trip or fall. Attendees will take away tips on removing hazards from their homes.
