Campus warming up for events to benefit Alzheimer’s research

colorrun_747x450Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor is gearing up to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association with the Cowley County Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the Color for a Cure run.

“Although Color for a Cure is a way to raise funds, to me it is also important to spread the word about the prevalence of Alzheimer’s and the need for more research and answers,” said Tara Clawson, marketing director.

The Color for a Cure run will be Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Arkansas City Senior Citizen Center. The money raised by participants and supporters will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association and counts toward the Cowley County Walk total.

The Cowley County Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, in Winfield and will start at the VFW. To help raise money, Presbyterian Manor will once again register its own team in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s just as it has done for several years.

A variety of fundraising activities are being planned for this, including T-shirt and bracelet sales. The back of the T-shirt was designed by a Memory Care resident at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor.

Other fundraisers include a lawn movie showing of “Still Alice,” as well as favorites from last year like “flock of flamingos,” which was a big hit with the community, said Tara.

If you are a Presbyterian Manor resident or a member of the Arkansas City community and want to get involved in fundraising, please contact Tara at 620-442-8700.

You can involve your child and ask them what type of theme or feeling they want
in their area, and base your furniture alternatives off of
    that theme.
